At the Chipping Sodbury Lions Club dinner dance held on Saturday 12th April in the Town Hall the Lions President Ian Gott presented special guest Susan Osman the former BBC Points West presenter and now Media Consultant and Ordained Minister with a cheque for £1000 for her favoured charity the NSPCC. The event attended by club members and their guests was held to celebrate the 37th anniversary of their membership of Lions Club International and the award of their Charter in 1971. Lions President Ian Gott gave the Loyal toast and the toast to Lions Club International. In his address he outlined the activities and the many successes achieved by the Club over the past year. Lion Bill Smith, one of the two remaining original club members responded with an entertaining reminisce of Lions activities in years past, all of which had the same aim as today’s, to raise funds to assist and support local charities and organisations. Lion Deborah Porter, Lion President designate, proposed the toast to the partners and guests with the response by Susan Osman. On completion of the formal activities the attendees enjoyed dancing and singing along to the entertainment of Geoff George. Lion President Ian said it had been a great evening and thanked all those Lions who had worked hard to make it a success and looked forward to another successful year and the 38th Anniversary celebrations.
